The US Geological Survey (USGS) is deploying storm surge sensors in Florida, as announced in its press release: USGS installs storm surge sensors along shores of Florida before the arrival of Hurricane Irma. The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is locating the USS Kearsarge and USS Oak Hill in the Caribbean in preparation for Hurricane Irma. Embarked aboard ships, Marines Corps has the ability to respond quickly with assets by air, ground and logistics when assistance is requested.
United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) is fully committed to federal, state, territorial, and international mission partners as the command continues to support planning, pre-positioning, and initial efforts. USNORTHCOM has identified Incident Support Centers at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, Fort AP Hill, Virginia, Moody AFB, Ga., Fort Bragg, NC, and Warner Robbins AFB, Ga., To support response operations and recovery operations for the east coast.
